Product Description Shooting high quality video is easy with the Sony DCR-DVD650 Handycam camcorder. The powerful 60x optical zoom lens gets you close to the action, while SteadyShot image stabilization reduces blur. And with Hybrid recording technology, you can capture it all directly to a DVD, or to removable Memory Stick Duo or Memory Stick PRO Duo media.- 1/8 Advanced HAD CCD Imager: A 1/8 Advanced HAD (Hole Accumulation Diode) CCD imager with 410K (effective) pixel resolution delivers stunning detail and clarity for exceptional video and still image performance.
- 60X Optical / 2000X Digital Zoom: Ideal for sporting events, wildlife, or distance shooting, 60X optical zoom brings you closer to the action, so you can capture extremely tight shots, even from far away. In addition, Digital Zoom Interpolation means that extreme digital zooming (up to 2000X) is clearer, with less distortion than previous types of digital zooms.
- Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens with SteadyShot image stabilization: The DCR-DVD650 features a professional-quality Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar lens designed specifically for compact camcorders. Precision ground optics help maintain the sharpness and contrast of larger lenses, and SteadyShot image stabilization helps reduce blur caused by camera shake.
- DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL (Dual Layer) Compatible: The DCR-DVD650 is compatible with a variety of DVD formats (DVD-R/-RW/+RW and +R DL (Dual Layer)6, allowing you to take advantage of the ease-of-use and simplicity found in DVD media. With DVD+RW media, there is no need to finalize the disc (minimum recording required); simply remove and insert the media into a compatible DVD or Blu-ray Disc player.
- Hybrid Recording to DVD or Memory Stick PRO Duo media: Hybrid recording technology delivers a new level of flexibility of capturing and transferring your video footage and digital photos from the camcorder to compatible viewing devices. Record to DVD media6 or choose instead to record t

Great camera for the price July 22, 2010 Michelle R (Gulf Breeze, FL) I bought 8 of these cameras to use at a conference that I manage each year. We video instructors "practice teaching" and give them a disk to take home so they can watch themselves and see what (if anything) they need to improve). The cameras were very easy to use. The only problem we had was with the long time it takes to finalize each disk. Next year, we will use two cameras in each room so that we don't have to wait for one to finalize before taping the next instructor.
I brought the camera home for my husband to look over before I started using them. He is very picky about his electronics and he loved this camera. The size and weight are incredible and he thought the picture quality was very good. He did mention that the picture does get grainy when you zoom - but he also said that is to be expected.
All in all, we thought it was a great camera for the price.
themeatnpotatoesofitall July 18, 2010 Jesse S. Sconza (usa) Received camera quickly, thanks annil,. everything works great,..I suspected people that some thought might be required in the application, com'on people just read the operating giude..(little Book)..and everything will be alright..thanks again ANNIL & Amazon..TA!! DA!!
So far so good July 15, 2010 Ohio mom (Mentor, Ohio) Took a lot longer to be delivered than anticipated (about 2 weeks) and when it arrived it was programmed for Spanish and instruction book was also in Spanish. Downloaded an instruction book and all is fine. Have only used the camcorder a couple of times but so far it's working great, easy to use and pictures are perfect. I like that you can use a disk that can be removed and placed right in your dvd player without having to download/upload.
Sony Handycam model 308 July 14, 2010 John Currie 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I bought a Sony DVD video camera model 308 2 years ago. I contacted Sony and they want $171.00 to repair it.My question is has Sony improved the quality enough to buy another one. What is the best Sony I can buy for about $500.00.
Very pleased July 7, 2010 R. Smith (Burlington, NC) The only drawback I've ever found with this product is the lack of night lighting/flood light.
Other than that, I love this Video camera.
