3 out of 5 stars Eats files - Be sure to transfer!   July 28, 2010
Barbara A. Jackson (Cookeville, TN United States)
I bought my Webbie from Sony before the cameras hit the stores. I have other cameras for serious filming and this was my point and shoot for filming my kids in action. Recently two of my files which were OK, just disappeared from the card. I didn't think too much about it. I put in a new card, shot several scenes then transferred those videos to my computer. While filming at a pool, the camera died. I changed the battery - nothing. I put the card in my computer - NOTHING. All the files on the card were eaten- the older ones and the newer ones. The computer wouldn't even register that a card was there. I put in a new card and it worked. OK, maybe it was a bad card. This weekend after shooting a few scenes in the shade, it was fine. Then in the bright sunlight the camera died again. Later at home it became alive. I'm wondering if a sensor was affected by summer heat and/or bright light. I'm afraid to use it - it may blotto my earlier shots. This camera is one of the older ones out there. Transfer your files between use in case this is a weakness in the camera.

5 out of 5 stars Water resistent?   July 17, 2010
This was my first camera that I got. I got it as a Christmas present and it works great. Even though I doubt the camera's waterproof, it could still work after you put a few drops of water in it.
I was in my friends pool when I accidentaly got a few drops of water in it. It stopped working but I took out the memory card and the battery, dried them with a towel and let them dry in the sun. The next morning it was on, but parts werent working. it went to playback mode over and over. So I let it dry some more. After that, it worked. But for the next week I made sure it didnt get too hot or cold. Anyway, it has been about a month since that happened and now it works as if it has never been put in the water, even though it's not waterproof.
Anyway, this camera's awesome I would definetly give it five stars. The color and the lense are really cute and my 16GB memory card costed only $[...]. Awesome camera. I Love It!!!!

1 out of 5 stars poor camera   June 27, 2010
Chicago (Chicago, IL)
I bought this Webbie HD MP4 Camera from Sony Style Sales directly. I have to return it after keeping it for about 10 days upon the following reasons:

1. I have to fully re-charge the battery each time right before I use it, the battery life-time is so short and it only lasts less than 1 hour even in stand-by mode;

2. It is not user-friendly product, it took me a couple of days to figure it out how to read the files in PC;

3. It is not plug and play type, you have to choose a specific mode in the camera, then you can read the picture or video file in PC. Otherwise, you cannot read the files in PC. In addition, the camera has to be power-on to read any files in PC.

4. PMB software coming with the camera does not work for my window 7 OS.

5. You have to purchase a Memory Stick separately which is designed specifically for this camera ($20-$40 for 4G that I bought). The stick cannot be used in the most of other Sony products.

6. The instruction manual is not directive. You cannot find the solution for the issues in the manual. I spent a couple of hours to talk to SONY support team to find the solutions. Three customer eSupport people via online-chat I talked are very nice and professional.

1 out of 5 stars Is there a 0 star rating?   May 31, 2010
Rebeca E. Eigen (Houston, Texas)
That's what I would give it. Huge waste of money. If you want poor quality photos and poor quality video, this is the product for you. Shame on Sony!!!
