Cheap... but fun September 7, 2010 JStride I bought this camera during an amazon special ($100 with free 2-day shipping) almost 3 months ago. Yes it has some flaws, but for the price it's still a pretty cool little camera. The video quality is fine for making youtube videos or watching on a standard def tv. What also turned me on to this camera is the 10x optical zoom, which most "pocket/compact" camcorders around this price do not offer. And since I didn't have to break the bank for this camera I have no problem with taking it to the beach or just tossing it in my backpack. I've read some reviews that claim this camera struggles with macs but I haven't had any problems. There's a setting to turn off the built in PC software and once you do that the video clips can be dragged and dropped onto your mac no problem. And i've edited the videos with both iMovie and Final Cut Express without any issues.
OK... now for the big problem I've had. A few days after I got the cam in the mail I noticed that in quiet, indoor situations the built in mic was picking up a weird whirring electronic noise especially if I zoomed in and out. I figured it was a defect and called samsung's customer service... and that's where I had the real issues. I waited on hold for about an hour and then the guy I ended up talking to was not helpful at all. He kept putting me back on hold and, honestly, I had a really hard time trying to understand what he was saying. He finally told me he was gonna send me a shipping label in the mail to send the cam to a repair facility. Never got it. About a week and a half later I got an email that supposedly had a shipping label attached but the link was expired. Normally, I would have been pretty pissed about the whole thing, but since the camera was cheap I was pretty much like whatever. I've been mostly using the camera to video my friends and I surfing and skateboarding so when I edit the footage I take the sound out anyway. But, FYI samsung has weak customer service.
I Love this Little Camcorder August 17, 2010 Maggie Mae (Memphis, Tennessee) At first I thought what Samsung calls their Active Angle Lens was little more than a gimmick. I was wrong. Holding the camera in your hand is very natural and I find I can hold it for long periods of time without my hand getting tired. That's a huge plus for me. The fold out LCD screen is easy to see, even outdoors.
Samsung's Smart Auto has eight different modes, so that you get the best possible results and it's easy as pie to switch between them. I love the time lapse recording feature. It's great for speeding up a sunset or sunrise.
Battery charging can be done via a USB cable to your computer, just like an iPod, pretty cool. You can get six hours and twenty minutes of video on a 16 GB SD, so you'll need a couple batteries if you want to fill the card when you're away from a computer or an outlet, as you only get two and a half hours (what I got with my camera) on a charge. I'd've liked longer, but you can't have everything.
The software is pretty darned easy to use. You can go straight from Camera to Facebook if you so desire. All in all I really like this little camera, it's small enough to fit in my bag with all the other essentials I carry around all day long and it's easy to hold and easy to use.
Grainy video July 30, 2010 Shannara (Juneau, AK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Its ok, if you want to record old tv style (think 1980s over the air TV). But if you want anything HD, this camera does not record (nor does it advertise it either). It is great for a kid to play around with. But it is no good for people who want to just record things and view them on a computer (or tv, or burn to dvd) the video quality (on highest setting) is still lower then over the air tv programme, complete with mandatory "snow" effect.
PROBLEM WITH TECH SUPPORT July 20, 2010 AUSTIN BOLLEN 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
THE PRODUCT MAY BE GOOD BUT THE CAMCORDER I RECEIVED WOULD NOT WORK WITH THE MEMORY CARD I PURCHASED. (INFORMATION ON PRODUCT DID NOT MENTION THAT MEMORY CARD WAS NOT FURNISHED WITH CAMCORDER.) AFTER THE MEMORY CARD (WHICH I PURCHASED 8GB) WOULD NOT WORK I MADE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REACH TECH SUPPORT. WHEN I FINALLY REACHED TECH SUPPORT THE ONLY SUGGESTION THEY HAD WAS THAT I PURCHASE A 4GB CARD. THE LITERATURE SAYS THE CAMCORDER SHOULD SUPPORT A 24GB CARD. I PURCHASED 2-4GB CARDS AND HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. WHEN I AGAIN TRIED TO REACH TECH SUPPORT IT TOOK OVER A WEEK TO GET THROUGH AND I COULD NOT GET THROUGH ON THIER WEB PAGE ON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS. WHEN I FINALLY REACHED TECH SUPPORT THEY SUGGESTED I SEND THE CAMCORDER TO THIER REPAIR FACILITY. THE CAMCORDER WAS SHIPPED ON JULY 12, 2010 AND AS OF THIS DATE I HAVE NOT EVEN RECEIVED ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF THE RECEIVING OF THE CAMCORDER. NEEDLESS TO SAY I AM LESS THAN PLEASED.

Samsung SMX-C20 Ultra Compact camcorder July 20, 2010 Mark Twain This device has proven VERY convenient to carry - in my pocket, in my car, almost anywhere I go.
Still photos are quite good - comparable to or better than most cell-phone snapshots.
While the video quality is marginally acceptable, it does NOT match the quality of high definition video footage taken with my SONY camcorder - which cost about ten times more than the Samsung.
However, because the Samsun UltraCompact is so convenient to carry with me, I frequently find myself using it because my professional quality equipment is just to bulky to carry with me at all times.
